If you've ever been on the London Underground, you know the phrase. Mind the gap. Three words, played on a loop at every station, reminding you to pay attention to the space between where you're standing and where you're going.

I kept hearing it, and when I started thinking about what to call this newsletter, it came back to me.

Because there is a gap. A significant one. Between the speed at which AI is developing and the speed at which most of us are able to understand, question, or engage with it.

How It Started

For the past few months, I've been living and working in a bubble where AI is in everything. Every project, every tool, every conversation at work. It's just become the way I operate.

So when I was talking to someone recently, casually dropping references to things I'd been reading and using, I noticed something. They had no idea what I was talking about. Not because they weren't smart or curious, but because they simply hadn't been immersed in it the way I had. And I realised I'd forgotten what it felt like to be on the outside of that.

Here's the thing though: I don't consider myself a tech expert. I'm not an AI researcher or an engineer. I'm someone who started using these tools, got genuinely curious, kept reading, and ended up knowing more than most people in my circles without ever having set out to become an authority on it.

That conversation was a reality check. There's a world of people who are curious, or cautious, or being told they need to get up to speed, and they don't have a starting point that doesn't feel overwhelming or agenda-driven.

Because the more I used AI, the more I noticed the questions nobody seemed to be answering clearly. Not the technical questions — there's plenty of that content. The human questions. The ethical ones. The ones that sit underneath all the hype and the fear and the breathless announcements.

Is this fair? Is this safe? Who decided this? What does it mean for the people it's being used on?

I wanted to learn. And I wanted to share that learning with people like me.

Who This Is For

Mind the Bot is not for AI researchers or tech insiders. It's for everyone else.

For the person who keeps hearing about AI at work and isn't sure what to think. For the business leader trying to make good decisions without enough information. For the employee who's been told a new AI tool is being introduced and wants to know what questions to ask. For the curious person who just wants to understand what's happening without having to read a hundred different articles to get there.

You don't need a technical background. You don't need to have an opinion yet. You just need to be paying attention.

What We Do

Every Wednesday morning, Mind the Bot brings together the most important stories in ethical AI from across the internet. We read the research papers, the investigative journalism, the policy announcements, and the thought leadership so you don't have to.

Then we tell you what happened, why it matters, and what we think about it. Plainly. Honestly. Without an agenda.

The goal isn't to tell you what to think about AI. It's to give you the information and the perspective to make up your own mind.

Mind the gap between where AI is and where the conversation about it needs to be.

That's what we're here for.

See you next Wednesday.
